Rascal Flatts are celebrating 10 years at the top of Country Music this year and last night they paid tribute to the songwriters who had a hand in their success.
From the press release:
"It starts with a song and it ends with a song," said Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus. "We can talk about 'Bless The Broken Road' and 'I’m Movin’ On' that were amazing singles for us, but equally as important are those songs that were on our albums that never became singles. Those songs too touched people’s lives each and every day."
The night kicked off with a surprise appearance by Thom Schuyler who performed his well-known hit, '16th Avenue', in homage to the gathered songwriters. The evening’s festivities also featured live acoustic stagings of eight of the band’s eleven #1 hits by the original songwriters. These moving and sometimes funny performances included 'Here Comes Goodbye', performed by Clint Lagerberg and Chris Sligh, 'Mayberry', performed by Arlos Smith, and Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley’s performance of 'Take Me There'.
