CD Review - 'Haywire' - Josh Turner

Haywire - Josh Turner (MCA Nashville, 2010)

Josh Turner fans are enthusiastic about the new album 'Haywire' as it has been two years since the last album 'Everything is Fine' was released. Turner is a traditional country singer with a deep, soothing baritone voice. This album has 11 tracks and out of them, 5 are either written or co-written by Turner.

The album begins with the 1st single 'Why Don’t We Just Dance', written by Jim Beavers, Jonathan Singleton and Darrell Brown. It has already hit #4 on the charts this week and has everyone smiling and dancing all over! As fans know, Turner’s album will have soulful songs about life and then there will be one like 'Friday Paycheck' written by Turner and Mark Narmore. It is a playful number with highlighting the steel about a blue collar worker who counts down the days to his Friday paycheck. I hope to see it released as a single.

'I Wouldn’t Be a Man', a cover of the 1987 hit by Don Williams is awe-inspiring with the rich deep tone reminding of Randy Travis. 'Lovin You On My Mind' is a sexy, bluesy tune that will have all the ladies swooning. 'I’ll Be There' is an inspiring song about a dad and his undeniable love to his child. 'If you need a frown turned to a grin or you need a hand just to hold your hand - Need a daddy or you just need a friend – I’ll be there... I can imagine this one at a wedding for a father/daughter dance.

The last track - 'The Answer', an inspiring gospel tune that features a stunning choir on backup vocals.

All in all, the album is an excellent and uplifting as his previous albums. The Deluxe Edition should be your pick with 4 additional tracks including live audio tracks of 'Long Black Train' and 'Your Man' and 2 previously unreleased songs.

Josh Turner’s fourth studio album release date is today, February 9, 2010. Let us know what you think of 'Haywire'!
