Kenny Chesney Top Country Act in Tours of the Decade

Posted by UC Monday, December 14, 2009

I am starting to like all these something-of-the-decade lists... We may need to make our own.

Billboard has the 25 highest earning tours listed and Kenny Chesney is the highest country act listed, and the only to break the top 10. Kenny also played the most shows (622) out on the road of the top 10 acts (true, Celine Dion has more performances to her name but she has her Las Vegas run to thank, which does not count as 'on the road' for me). 9,210,288 people went to see a Kenny Chesney show this decade resulting in a dizzying $477,931,760 earnings.

The Billboard Top Touring Artists of the Decade:

1. The Rolling Stones
2. U2
3. Madonna
4. Bruce Springsteen
5. Elton John
6. Celine Dion
7. Dave Matthews Band
8. Kenny Chesney
9. Bon Jovi
10. Billy Joel

Tim McGraw placed 13th (388 shows/5,203,501 attending/$303,950,209 earnings). Just making the top 20 are Rascal Flatts (401 shows/4,514,282 attending/$222,256,153 earnings) and Toby Keith makes the top 25 in 24th place (542 shows/6,355,046 attending/$271,904,093 earnings).
